Extension Training Centre, GBSIPRD, Kahikuchi

The Extension Training Centre (ETC), Kahikuchi is an extension wing of GBSIPRD, Assam under Panchayat & Rural Development, Govt. of Assam which is located adjacent to LGB International Airport, Guwahati. It was initially  established as a Gaon Panchayat Secretary’s Training Centre (GPSTC) in 1962 to impart training for GP secretaries with a view to enhance their capacities regarding   role and responsibilities  while rendering  services in respect of implementation of various developmental schemes concerning rural area affecting rural people. In the later part with the existence of SIRD, which came into being in 1981,the GPSTC was amalgamated to the SIRD and it is re-designated as Extension Training Centre (ETC) in 1992. At present, ETC, GBSIPRD Kahikuchi is involved in capacity building focusing mainly on  imparting training to various levels of PRI representatives, functionaries, SHGs and other stakeholders etc.   covering four districts viz. Goalpara, Kamrup (Rural, Kamrup (M) and Morigaon. Now under its jurisdiction there are two District Panchayat Resource Centres (DPRCs) in Goalpara and  Morigaon District under this Extension Training Centre.
