Extension Centre, Kajalgon

The Extension Centre of the Golap Borbora State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (GBSIPRD), Kajalgaon, Chirang, was inaugurated on 13th December 2008 by Hon’ble Minister Sri Chandan Brahma, P&RD, Government of Assam. The Centre was established to strengthen the capacity-building process in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and its adjoining areas.

With the aim of bringing training, research, and extension services closer to rural functionaries and local communities, the Centre began functioning as a Growth Centre(Extension Centre) of SIRD Assam. Since its inception, it has been actively engaged in conducting training on income-generating activities for beneficiaries, community leaders, and members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under various self-employment programmes of the Government of Assam. In addition, it has also provided training to functionaries of the P&RD Department and officials of line departments.

The Extension Centre at Kajalgaon has played a significant role in promoting rural development programmes, livelihood activities, and good governance practices in Chirang and neighbouring districts. It continues to serve as a vital link between policymakers, government departments, and rural communities by offering skill development, exposure, and orientation programmes. Over the years, the Centre has contributed immensely to strengthening grassroots institutions and improving the socio-economic conditions of rural people in the region.
